The curb is raised under the roof membrane, which allows for stairs and mechanical equipment to be mounted directly onto it. The long structural galvanized steel unit also known as a "rail" can hold up pipes or duct pedestals that don't penetrate through into your shingles - they're just secured by treated wood posts placed on either side of these supports so you won’t have any leaks!
